THE CAPTAIN

There are two boats operating this season for daysails and sunset cruises. Darin Keech will sail one boat and other excellent Captain’s sailing the other. Darin is a professional Captain and Musician.  He holds a 100GT  Master Captains License and delivers a premium experience.  Passengers rest easy when boarding the Poet’s Lounge Sailing Charters because they know they’re in professional hands.

As a 30 year sailing veteran, the Captain has sailed Trans Atlantic aboard the famous 1928 Schooner Nina, delivered boats up and down the east coast, offered sailing charters out of Mystic, CT for 20 years aboard Poet’s Lounge Mystic, his classic ocean racer 1972 Ericsson 39. The Jeanneau 47′ was used for winter charters out of St. John Virgin Islands. The Jeanneau will be operating 4 to 6 hour excursions out of New London, Ct. Darin sailed the Jeanneau from Florida through the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, between Haiti and Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and Bermuda.

Darin is also a professional musician / songwriter, and performed weekly in winter venues on St. John, Virgin Islands and summer venues in Mystic, CT. He wrote, produced and directed a play called,  The Common Itch, released a CD with Band of Humans including 12 of Darin’s original compositions and has written scores and songs for indie films.

Both boats will sail the waters of the exquisite Fishers Island Sound. Fishers Island Sound is considered by many to be the one of the premiere sailing locations on the east coast with many scenic Islands, beaches, lighthouses, beautiful homes between Watch Hill, RI and New London CT. Darin has been based out of the picturesque town of Noank, at the mouth of the Mystic River, for 25 years and now also out of New London.
